MARY KATRANTZOU

Limited Edition Pochette

A historic presentation of world-renowned designer Mary Katrantzou’s SS20 collection that took place at the Temple of Poseidon in Greece, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Association “ELPIDA – Association of Friends of Children with Cancer”, brought together two Hellenic creative forces, for a good cause. Callista Crafts designed and created a limited edition pochette for this great event of international caliber that took place on October 3rd , 2019. Mary Katrantzou’s trademark patterns met with the traditional macramé leather details of Callista Crafts, in a one-of-a-kind clutch that was offered as a welcome gift to all guests who traveled from around the world especially for the show and was proudly carried by most of them during their stay in Greece. After the event, the limited edition design was also sold through e-shops and the Mary Katrantzou brand itself, sealing the collaboration with a great retail story.

BENAKI MUSEUM

Nema Loom-Woven Straps

Callista Crafts has had the honor of collaborating with The Benaki Museum on an exclusive capsule collection that marries traditional Greek craftsmanship with understated luxury. The technical skill and ethical practice expressed by Callista Crafts gave rise to the collaboration of the house with the Mentis-Antonopoulos Passementerie (“NEMA”) for the Benaki museum. A partnership that birthed a collection of one-off leather bags and handbags with the characteristic Callista macramé detailed handles, next to straps that were woven on the looms of NEMA. A living, breathing center of cultural heritage, NEMA is a reference point for modern designers and established fashion brands in Greece and abroad. It is the only “house” of passementerie products (ribbons, braids, tassels, fringes et al.) operational in Greece today, using traditional methods while also specializing in the processing and dyeing of silk and cotton threads. For the Callista Crafts X Benaki Shop collection, the inspiration was an embroidered frieze on a bridal pillow representing a three-tiered schooner from Skyros (17th – 18th century), a design abstractly transferred to the design of the bag strap, while the leather color tones of the collection come from a Rhodesian motif of a bed with shaped leaves (18th-19th century).

Flexible, diverse and ever evolving, Callista Crafts has the know-how and expertise matched with charisma and respect for tradition that attracts important relationships. Creativity and innovation are offered to the equation with limitless passion and a deep appreciation of co-creation.

VOGUE GREECE LAUNCH

The statement magazine that has carved the history of fashion with passion and unquestionable art for decades, celebrated the launch of its first issue in Greece with a big party, held on the 31st of March, 2019. In a groundbreaking team-up, Vogue Greece reached out to Callista Crafts, as the epitome of Greek chic, asking the brand to embrace its first cover in a made-to-order pouch that was given as a special gift to the VIP guests of the evening.

LALAOUNIS BRACELETS

The admiration between Callista Crafts and the traditional Greek jewelry brand, that focused the international spotlight on Greece and its golden artifacts since the sixties, transformed, in the winter of 2020, into an art object, a jewel symbolizing the partnership of perfect technique with imagination and authenticity. Two bracelets centered on the characteristic, traditional Callista macrame, skillfully crafted by the traditional craftsmen of Lalaounis are tied with pieces of soft, durable leather, which gently embraces the wrist, highlighting the value of the golden masterpiece. A unique piece where the legend of Lalaounis meets the innovative thinking of Callista Crafts. The bracelets were sold at Callista Crafts boutiques and on-line, as well as the Lalaounis jewelry store.

YIORGOS TRICHAS

Ceramic Candle

The beautiful essence of jasmine, accompanying Callista Crafts in each expression from online shipments to the boutique itself, has a refined, soft perfume, and fresh, soft notes ideally complementing the deep smell of genuine leather. When Yiorgos Trichas, a fairly new entry in the world of ceramics approached the brand with the idea of a ceramic creation carrying a jasmine candle with macramé – weaved handles, it was an instant union. An ideal connection between people of the same aesthetic approach, a perfect match between leather and ceramics, both raw, breathing materials with an earthy, authentic feel. The candle was first placed and sold in the Callista Crafts Boutique during the Fall of 2020.

CACAO ROCKS

1821 pochette

Cacao Rocks, aka Yassonas Megoulas, is a creative force that loves to apply the art of graffiti in unexpected forms, playing with classic Greek folk symbolism. A powerful creative meeting with Callista Crafts brought to light an original and very contemporary incarnation of their own version of the 1821 narrative. In a limited edition of only fifty numbered items, the pochette designed by street artist Cacao Rocks for Callista Crafts celebrates the anniversary of independence with a special design in which the balance between volumes, genders, and colors balance each other in perfect harmony, with respect to the pillars of the brand. A white tassel offers a nod of appreciation to the aesthetic codes of Greek spirituality and a discreet bracelet transforms the pochette into a casual, perfectly wearable accessory.
