Production
Callista Crafts promotes high environmental standards in its supply chain, by working closely with suppliers and production partners as well as safeguarding the craftswomen employed by the company. Each bag is handcrafted with care and aim for utmost respect for natural materials, with ethically-made products that are aimed to last beyond trends. Meanwhile, repair services offered minimize waste. All types of Italian leather used to create Callista bags apply by European Union’s REACH regulation (EC) No.1907/2006 by the European Parliament and Commission. In addition, eco-friendly materials are used with regards to the packaging processes.
Goal for 2021: In the SS21 collection, the brand’s aim is to cease the usage of wildlife exotics skin materials despite the fact that these materials have certifications for usage as well. A research has started for more eco-friendly materials that are not directly from wildlife.
People
Since Callista Crafts was founded, one of the main goals was to make the most of the opportunity to provide equal access to decent work to women and men in Greece. Despite the fact that Callista was founded in the midst of the worst economic crisis that has hit the country in modern times, today, 25 out of 30 employees are women from different backgrounds, who are given the opportunity of three months training in craftmanship, after being hired in the team as full time employees.
Empowering women has always been one of Callista’s core values while at the same time providing opportunities to other minority groups such as people with special needs has always been something that our team was looking to fulfil. September 2020 sawa disabled woman (from Theotokos Foundation) that will be joining our production team.
Goal for 2021: As the company continues to grow sustainably, the aim is to enlarge the team further while continuously try to tackle any discriminatory boundaries.
At the heart of Callista Crafts, Individuality, empowerment and sustainability meet social responsibility and a desire for substantial change.
